Easter is a time of celebration and reflection for many around the world, myself included. This day holds a special place in my heart, not just as a symbol of renewal and resurrection, but also as a testament to a journey from mere knowledge to deep understanding and belief.

I was born and raised in a Christian family, attending Christian schools from kindergarten all the way through high school. I knew the story of Easter like the back of my hand. But, it wasn’t until I stepped into the world of university that I truly grasped the profound meaning behind it.

That experience helps me to see that knowledge doesn’t always lead to understanding. You can know something for years without truly comprehending its depth. And this is where belief comes in. Our beliefs are built on understanding, not just knowing.

To truly understand our beliefs, it’s important to evaluate our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. They are the compass that points toward what we truly believe, not just what we think we believe. For the past six years, I’ve been meeting with a coach twice a month to evaluate these aspects of myself. This practice has brought greater clarity to my thoughts and beliefs, enabling me to consciously choose what I want to think and believe.

One belief I’ve cultivated is that things happen for me, not to me. This mindset empowers me to wake up each day feeling safe and grateful. It instils an inner knowing that every day is a good day, regardless of the emotions that may rise within me. This belief has brought peace in my life.

As we commemorate Easter, I want to share this with you. I hope through my journey, you can see the possibility for your own transformation. You can move from simply knowing to deeply understanding, and from understanding to truly believing.

Easter is a time of rebirth and renewal. It’s a perfect time to reflect on our beliefs and choose ones that serve us. So, let’s celebrate this day not just for its religious significance, but also for the opportunity it brings for transformation and new beginnings. Happy Easter!
